BACKGROUND

 

Gelper is based in California and is a mobile-based cause marketing app. It is designed for passionate millennials to help them fundraise for non-profits by shopping at participating retailers who will donate a portion of their sales to non-profits.

 

OPPORTUNITY/CHALLENGE

 

Our goal is to target the 80 million US millennials who are extremely cause-focused and make purchasing decisions based on a company’s corporate social responsibility. The non-profit industry has a hard time converting millennial followers into donors; specifically, retailers have a hard time connecting donation behaviors to causes in which millennials are deeply invested.

 

SOLUTION

 

Gelper allows users to discover local businesses that will give back to causes they care about. When users make a purchase at that store, a portion of the sale is donated to the non-profit of the user’s choice.

 

We were referred to Innofied by another local firm who had used them extensively on a project.

 

We needed to build a minimum viable product (MVP) version of the app for both iOS and Android, as well as back-end database infrastructure. We also needed design/UX work done on the app. We tasked Innofied to handle all aspects of the project. There was also a third-party integration from a financial data information provider that we needed to implement into the front and back-end of the app.

 

The overall development time was roughly 12 weeks, including testing.

 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

 

We were extremely pleased with Innofied’s ability, especially tackling the third-party financial information that was new to them. While there was a small learning curve, they jumped in to make sure the UX and functional experience were seamless.

 

They were able to handle multiple issues concurrently and kept the project on budget. I was amazed that we stayed on budget and completed it within two weeks of the original timeline, especially since some issues arose from the third-party provider. Overall, we are extremely happy with our experience.
